support
Subscriptions and advertising cannot support small magazines like Lake, which are devoted to high quality work. Printing costs alone run into the thousands of dollars for even small print runs of 300 – 400 copies. Like most cultural journals, Lake relies on grants and donations to make up the shortfall between revenues and expenses.
Donating to Lake means that you are investing in both the arts and environmental awareness. These are not disparate causes. For millennia, artists have responded to the natural world as visionary aid and inspiration. However, we live in a time of growing concern about environmental degradation and destructive climatic change. It is time to use the power of art to invigorate new ways of seeing our relation to nature.
Donating to Lake is also an investment in a legacy. Journals such as Lake are not ephemeral. They are archived in libraries around the world and they contribute to cultural critique and enrichment for decades to come.
Lake welcomes financial assistance for printing costs, contributors’ fees, and administration. Lake welcomes advertising, as well as sponsors for special sections, such as interviews with prominent local and international artists and writers. Gifts are tax deductible.
